Since we are partners in life and work, we offer a "two-for-one" of lifetimes of experience to our clients. In our own words...
From George:
I came to Nostalgic Homes after a career in show business. For 25 years I was an actor, director, playwright and - with my wife, Betty was the owner/operator of the only profesional theatre in New Mexico. My entrepreneurial bent and interest in old houses and city neighborhoods led me to Nostalgic Homes in 1998. In fact, Tom and CarolAnn Sinclair, the founders of the company, assisted Betty and me into our very own nostalgic home in 1990. A friendship developed and soon I was a licensed broker working with the Sinclairs.
I enjoy helping first-time buyers and empty-nesters who appreciate city living, architecturally interesting homes and neighborhoods with lots of character. Denver's charming, older neighborhoods remind me of sections of Chicago where I grew up. My strong background in marketing, photography, and writing all lend to my availability as a real estate broker for sellers, too.
From Betty:
My background in historic renovation and the arts led me to join my husband, George, as a Realtor at Nostalgic Homes. Early in life, I had the opportunity to renovate the historic home of a river boat captain on the Missouri River, rescuing it from a sheriff's sale for $7,000! That led to a succession of projects, culminating in the design of a large theatre and restaurant in a historic warehouse in Albuquerque for which we won the AIA Honor Award.
We've lived in Denver for 20 years now; first in Congress Park, now in Highlands. There is no place on earth we'd rather be! I've been active with Historic Denver, and George and I currently serve on the Artistic Advisory Board for the Historic Elitch Theatre. We are committed to the success of that renovation effort, and look forward to the time the Theatre will be open for productions in Northwest Denver. I've also chaired the Property Committee for our historic church, St. Andrew's Episcopal and guided the successful effort there to obtain grants for the historic preservation of the exterior. And in my spare time, I am Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees for St. Elizabeth's School, a private Episcopal school that will open in September 2007 to serve inner city children.
My passion for architecture and maintaining the integrity of city neighborhoods seems to be a natural fit here at Nostalgic Homes. I find older homes, and the people who occupy and appreciate them, endlessly interesting. My greatest pleasure is in helping buyers and sellers navigate the process of home ownership, attaining and maintaining that most important and personal of life's adventures. After all, "Home is where the heart is."
We consider Denver an excellent place to reside and would love to share with you our enthusiasm for the many neighborhoods that encompass it. We pride ourselves on providing unparalleled service and look forward to developing a long-term relationship with you. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss how we can best assist you with your real estate needs.
Sincerely,
George & Betty Luce
